Impossible Objects

Poland

Impossible Objects is a project exploring the relationship between modernism and politics in Poland's rebirth after 1918, inspired by the canopy above the entrance to Jözef Pilsudski's burial crypt. The project examines the complexities of Polish identity and its relationship with modernism, using the canopy's contradictions to reflect the country's ambivalence. The project recreates the canopy in 1:1 scale, separating the roof slab from its base, creating an impossible, hallucinatory figure.
